FAFSA Time
IT’S FAFSA SEASON – DON’T BE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD
Tips on filling out the FAFSA and receiving financial aid

Los Angeles, CA (January 9, 2008) – The time for high school and college students to apply for financial aid is now. As of January 1, students can begin to fill out the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The easiest way to fill out the FAFSA is on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure to visit this exact web site, as there are many web sites that may charge students money to submit the FAFSA.

No matter your income it’s important to fill out the FAFSA as you may unknowingly opt out of financial aid you could receive.

For California students, it is especially important for them to fill out the FAFSA early so that they may qualify for the Cal Grant. The deadline to qualify for a Cal Grant is March 2. To learn more about the Cal Grant and how to apply using the GPA Verification Form, please visit www.calgrants.org.

When filling out the FAFSA, it’s important to:
• Not leave any fields blank
• Report all sources of income, including untaxed income
• Parents and students should file Federal Tax Returns as soon as possible

• Make sure that the application is signed by both student and parent if the student is dependent
