Counselor Of The Year Winner
Ms. McGee is the winner of ALL Student Loan’s first annual College Counselor of the Year award. As a prize, the Downtown Magnets High School will receive a $1,500 grant from ALL Student Loan to support their efforts helping students go to college.
The contest was designed to help identify individuals in Los Angeles area schools who represent and reflect ALL Student Loan’s mission in their every day lives. As a nonprofit student loan lender, ALL Student Loan is guided by its mission to help increase college access for all populations.
Ms. McGee reflects this idea in her unwavering dedication to help her students. As part of her normal duties, she works to bring in Spanish-speaking individuals to events, and makes sure speakers talk about first-generation issues. She also reaches out to parents, especially of Latina girls, to convince them of the need for them to allow their daughters to attend four-year institutions.
