UC Insights
University of California

You know them by name: UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UC Santa Barbara; just to name a few. These are all campuses that are part of the University of California (“UC”) system, which is one of the state’s top university systems.

If you’re thinking about attending a UC campus; here are some things to keep in mind:

• The system accepts the top 12.5% of the state’s high school graduates, see UC website for explanation.
• Each UC school handles admissions separately, but a student wishing to apply for undergraduate admission uses one application for all UCs. If it is not already in electronic form, the application is then scanned into a computer and distributed to the individual campus undergraduate admission offices.

But! Don’t let that scare you off just yet.

• The UC system is committed to academic achievement, but that’s not all the system looks for in an applicant.
• You’ll also be evaluated based on your academic promise, and your potential to contribute to the educational environment and intellectual vitality of the campus.
